Engine Mechanical problem
1992 BMW 325 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 108535 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Car ran hot and started running rough. Replaced thermostat and seemed to fix the running hot problem, but still idled rough. Ran compression test and all cyl. was between 185psi to 210psi. Seemed to have air leak under intake. Pulled intake and see that #3 cyl. has water in it and alot cleaner than the rest of the cyls. Saw that I need to use special tools to replace head gasket. Need to know if this job can be done with out the special tools and information on setting up the timing chains once the head is removed.
Thanks for any help on this, J.C.

Hi there,

I would not attempt to do this work with out the special tools. These are designed to do a specific job and if you try and improvise you could do some serious damage. either get the tools or get the dealer to do the job.
