Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1985 BMW 325 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 150000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
My car is making a metallic clunk noise when in motion but not consistently and does not seem related to suspension. I only notice it after shifting and under certain conditions such as when turning. Could there be a problem in my drivetrain somewhere?
late this last week i first noticed it. I did not drive the car this weekend and did not hear anything this morning on my morning commute (about 20 miles...mostly highway though).
Cyberspace does not allow the possibility of sounds or noises to be definitely diagnosed. Could be drive line slack just being taken up and if that were the case it is normal operating procedure.
Yeah, it could be. The noise is usually only occuring under certain conditions and the noise is not very loud. I do sometimes drive a little hard...and this would cause any "slack" in the drivetrain to become apparent. I remember my old Chevelle...I broke a tooth off third gear...guess I better go easy huh?
