1975 Buick Electra V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 180000 miles

i have a 1975 buick and it has been giving me trouble with not wanting to start so i tap the gear shifter and try it again and then it will start but now it wont even do that when i try is my neutral safety switch going bad or do i have some sort of other problem with my car.
