Transmission problem
1996 Buick Riviera 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 110000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Recently, I bought a 96 Buick Riviera. It runs great but the transmission doesn't look to have ever been serviced. I would like to drop the pan and change the filter but am unsure of what I will find inside. I've never worked on a front wheel drive GM car and am unable to find a repair manual on the G platform for reassurance. The transmission has slipped once and missed a gear causing the check engine light to come on but since resetting it, it hasn't had any further problems. I know I need to do something because the fluid is brownish to clear and doesn't look red any more at all. Is there anything more to this than dropping the pan, pulling and replacing the filter, and refilling it with fresh fluid?
