How can i improve gas mileage? I am getting 12mpg in the cities. I am not a wreckless driver and i changed spark plug, air filter, do regular oilchange. Will changing fuel filter help improve gas mileage. Does oil leak in sparkplug well makes different? What do u recommend, since gas price is sky rocketing.

your valve seals or valve guide seals are worn, either that or the piston rings are worn, a compression test will tell you what the problem is!

What you have is a minor problem. You need to pull off the valve cover. The grommets for the plug holes are failing. Get some new ones from the auto parts store and I might suggest replacing the valve cover seal as well. That should take care of the oil in the wells.

By the way, get the oil out of their and consider replacing the plugs. Check the wires as well as they may have soaked up oil and could be affected as well.
