Engine Mechanical problem

Subaru Legacy Station Wagon, 1995, 160,200 miles- My check engine light came on tonight. The car sounded normal, and nothing seemed wrong. The temperature gauge was normal. I just had the oil changed about two hundred miles ago. The only thing I know of that could be wrong with the car is the drive belt is starting to crack, and there is some corrosion on the battery. Could it just be a mileage thing where the light comes on just for a regular servicing?

NO, there is something wrong with the engine management system and you ought to have a scan done to find the cause of it.
