Engine Cooling problem
1995 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 143000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
my radiator fan wont go off when the car is idling....when u first crank it up...it warms up normal, the fan will come on and off like norm for a few mins...but if leave it idling for about 20mins i notice the fan dont go off at all...i know this is not normal because it use to go on and off beofore i replace the engine. also i notice it idle about 1000rpm, is that the norm for a 95 maxima?. Another issue im having is i think i have a gas leak...when i first replace the engine, i drove it for about 10miles and the engine light came on...had it check and it was cyl 2 was misfiring....took it back to the mechanic and he replace the injectors with the ones on the old engine...the light hasn't come back on...but now i smell gas when it idle, and at time it idle irregular. i kno its a bad gas leak cause the mileage im getting now is really bad. plus the strong rich smell. we look for physical signs of leaks but could not see any. what could be cause this leak and how can i find it??

Hi jahbar,

Idling should be below 800 rpm, 1,000 is too high.

Check you EVAP system for disconnected hoses rgarding the fuel smell.

If the radiator fans does not stop, either there is not enough coolant in the system, faulty fan switch or a partially stuck thermostat.

If AC is on, fans would not stop unless compressor cuts.
