Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Lincoln Town Car V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 1995 lincoln town car. Replaced the alternator last week of January 2008, car ran fine, then started having trouble with battery & cables, even though they were new. Just put new battery and and ends on cables-ends were disintegrated after only a few months? car still would not start, took alternator back to store, and they tested it and said it was "over-charging" and gave me a new one. Put the new alternator in and car still will not start. The car has power, the lights come on in dash and the suspension motor runs, etc. but there is not sound to the motor/starter does not even turn over.
I checked all the fuses, could not find any blown. What happens when the alternator over charges?
