Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Honda Accord 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 240000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am working on getting a car I got for free to run and im not at all sure what could be wrong. The kid told me that he was just driving and it started to chug a little bit and he wasnt sure why so he just kept on driving. After that it just kept getting worse and worse and then one day he pulled into his driveway and he saw smoke from the hood and he smelled antifreeze. I am just wondering if anybody knows what could be wrong, or if I would be better off putting a new motor in it. Time is no problem but funds are limited for do it myself stuff, and I dont want to strip the motor apart otherwise I will dig into anything else pretty much. And I was also wondering if there was an adjustment for the clutch to tighten it up because it slips pretty bad I guess. Thank You very much
You should do some basic tests first, compression test, cooling system pressure test. and a oil pressure test if it will run, this will give you a better indication as to the condition of the engine, as for the clutch, there is no adjustment on these clutches.
