Transmission problem
1995 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 78000 miles
I bought the car used in 2005.Had a lurching transmission problem since. The problem only occurs AS the vehicle reaches temperature, usually as the vehicle shifts from 1st to 2nd, is intermittant and happens only once per drive. Then it shifts normally.Took it to several shops that told me they could find no codes or problem.Trans finally went out in 04/08.Had complete rebuild with torgue converter (AXODE 3196).Unfortunately lurching problem remained.Took it back to the trans shop but was told that there was no problem or codes-probably just me and my wifes imagination!Recently took it to yet another shop ,same blank looks.Today my wife was driving down a grade when lurch occured almost stalling the vehicle.Vehicle drives fine 99% of the time and has no other issues. |

Hi
If problem was there after rebuild think PCM maybe the culprit. Shifting is controled by PCM via solenoids. Either solenoids where not replaced or PCM faulty.
Have solenoids been checked and pressure been done?
Let me know
Thanks for donate |

No one yet has suggested a problem with the solenoids or PCM.Will call the shop that did the rebuild, but I have a feeling they did as little as possible and probably didnt do a pressure test or check soleniods.Would this be something a regular shop could do or should I look into another trans shop?I think you're right about the soleniods and PCM.I just don't know who to trust with this kind of work. Thanks for the advise. |
