Steering problem
1995 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 46000 miles
I have a 1995 ford ranger that was and still is used for plowing. The truck belonged to a company owned by my family and only has 46,000 mile on it. I haven't really checked out the truck to really see what's wrong with it, but here are my problems. I have vibration and humming noise arount 35-40mph. As speeds increase I clearly notice that the steering is very sloppy. Around 55-60 it gets hard to keep on the road. I thought itwas just me at first because I let my brother use it and haven't driven it in a while. I'm thinking tie rod, maybe wheel bearring, and I can't come up with anything else, like I said I haven't really even looked a i yet, but any feedback that would speed up my repair time would be appreciated. |

The vibration and noise could be coming from cupped tires. Check the condition of them. If they are fine, check the wheel bearing for the noise. Does the sound change when you make turns? Finally, check ball joints and all steering components for the slop in the steering.
Let me know what you find. |
