Transmission problem
1995 Ford Contour 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

1995 ford contour 6 cyl automatic (intermittent problem). Problem does not show up while driving in city. On highway after 30-60 minutes of driving if I stop for a short break the transmission seems to cut out. e.g. it feels like it is switching into neutral and then back into drive. It does not feel like it is slipping. If I pull over and take a lbreak (allowing it to cool down) when I restart I may not see the problem again for days. Replace EGR valve showed on computer readout, but I have been advised that it could be the "manual lever position sensor" going into "Limp Mode". Also the transmission speed sensor could be the problem?

Any info to steer me to the fault would be appreciated
