Suspension problem
1995 Chevy Suburban V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 165000 miles

I recently bought this 95 Suburban, unfortunately it was after I brought it home that I discovered the front sway bar links were missing--almost. there was a rusted, remnant on the drivers side poking out of the lower control arm.

My question is, it does not seem like the sway bar aligns with the lower control arm where the bolt is supposed to go with the link. Can you tell me if it is necessary to drop the sway bar off of the frame before installing the new link kits? Alas, the Chilton's I have is none too specific about how to go about this procedure.
