Engine Performance problem
1995 Cadillac Deville 4 cyl Automatic
For some reason, I'm losing oil. It's not dripping in puddles but I'm losing it. I was out running errands yesterday and I stop for gas and I checked my oil level and it was so dry inside the engine. I had just put in some oil earlier this week (about 4 quarts, 5 is the max capacity) and I added 3 quarts yesterday. As soon as I added the oil and started up the car, it jerked and shook a little and then it drove ok. Even today, Whenever I stop at a traffic light, it jerks a little right at take off. Did I add too much oil? |

Whenever I stop at a traffic light, it jerks a little right at take off. Did I add too much oil? The oil has nothing to do with it jerking. Could be one of the following.
Oxygen sensor
Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)
Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:
Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires |

I took my car to my mechanic this morning and he added some gas treatment by STP to my tank. Should I purchase some fuel injector fluid to my gas as well because it's still doing some jerking but it's a little better than it has been. |
