1995 BMW 318 electric fan

Engine Cooling problem
1995 BMW 318 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive 122000 miles

My car has a electric fan, it is suppose to come on when engine starts to get hot or when the AC is turned on. Fan is Not coming on when car starts to get hot and AC is NOT ON. Fan runs when AC is on and car does not overheat. Is there a switch from thermostat to fan that should be replaced?? Obviosly the fan works, where is the switch that turns on the fan, I would guess it has to connect to the thermostat. Is it built into the fan??

Install an engine driven fan and fan clutch and the problem will go away.
