Engine Performance problem

Hello, I recently traded a vehicle of mine for a 1994 Mazda Navajo.

Shortly after receiving the vehicle, I started noticing a lifter tapping (i've read this is a pretty common problem with the navajo/explorer that most ignore) and my engine started to perform horribly (takes about 15 seconds to get to 40 mph.). I know I'm not running on all cylinders. First thing I checked was the coil pack, but I got a spark from every plug. I was then told my plugs may not be gapped right, but that doesn't seem to be the problem either.

The engine light currently isn't on so it's pretty hard to troubleshoot.
