Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Mazda 626 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 124000 miles

I have a 94 mazda 626 that is in pretty good shape except it burns oil. I need a car for my daughter that is starting to drive. I would like to replace the engine in this car with another that is in good shape or remanufactored. However with gas prices so high I would like to change the V6 for a four cylinder. Could I do that or would they not switch out. Maybe the gas mileage would not change that much. Any help you could give me would be great. Thanks

I feel you will find that the welded body frame engine mount ? transmission mount brackets will differ, the exhaust will need replacing, as will the engine ? transmission loom and computer, i feel that it will not be a viable option.
