Engine Performance problem
1994 Ford Ranger 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 120000 miles

After driving for some time and stopping if the engine does not have nearly 40 minutes to cool the engine wont start every time. It cranks fine but acts like it is not firing. I thought that maybe it was a fuel problem so one time when it would not start I sprayed starter fluid right into the intake. Still did not fire. However once the engine cools it starts just fine. Any ideas?

when it wont startdo a spark test, could be a weak coil. Use a wired starter button, turning the key to on will activate fuel system...Start with the basics, and work your way up, Last tune up was? Wires plugs ALL filters? If all that is ok, check for a stuck EGR, then test fuel pump pressure, If it won't restart, determine what's missing, the engine needs three things to run, Spark at all plugs, gas to all cylinders, and compression in all cylinders, tho an engine may run lacking one in one cylinder, it won't run very well!
