Engine Performance problem
1994 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
I did an oil change about a month because my oil level was almost twice what it should be. It ran good and then started running ruff. I checked my oil and it was up about 3-4 liters. There's nothing like anti freeze or tranny fluid or water on the dipstick. It's clean and just oil.
I am absolutely baffled by this.

But what will cause the oil level to rise? I have never had to add oil, except when changing which is done every 5K
If there's nothing leaking in, how does the level rise?

The oil level has always been right where it should be. I have not had to add oil between changes. I realize it could be fuel from maybe a faulty injector, but it doesn't smell of fuel...it looks very clean on the dipstick.

But if there is only 4-5 liters of oil in there, how can the level keep rising and end up with more then you started with?
