Heater problem
1994 Ford Explorer 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic 90000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Long history to this.. let's start...
Bought this car last year from some folks. When i got it, the heater motor would make a loud rattle noise when I switched on. Over time, I removed the heater motor and found out that there was a bunch of light blue tissue like material, all choked up in the plastic fin. Removed them and it worked.
However, the a/c was not working. Bought a can of refrigerant. Topped the low pressure line up but the a/c is still not cold.
Lived without any a/c or heater for a while. Recently, while driving, i switched on the blower and a few minutes later, black (burnt smell) came out from the air vents. Stopped to check the engine and Thank God the engine was Ok. Thought it was the blower. Removed it and it was ok. No fuse blown as well.
However, now, the blower knob only works at the highest setting. in short, i now have:-
- a blower that works only at the highest setting
- a/c not working even after topping up the refrigerant
- unsolved mystery where the light blue 'tissue' like material came from
- unsolved mystery where the black smoke came from

God Bless...
Roy
