If you turn the interior light on and try to start the car, what happens to the light. Does it stay lit, turn off, etc? |

It stays lit.
Someone bypassed the wires and reached the starter and it started without using the ignition key.
Does this suggest the starter is fine and not the issue? |

Yes, it seems that the starter is ok. Sounds like you might have a bad ignition switch or an open wire somewhere. |
