Engine Mechanical problem

i have a 1994 ford escort with a 1.9 liter 4 cylinder manual shift..the other day i was driving and the car started overheating and when i went to take off from a stop sign the car quit running..i let it cool down and tried starting it a couple hours later and it wouldn't start..the motor turns over but wont fire..i replaced the timing belt and fuel pump and fuel filter less than a thousand miles ago..i added antifreeze when i tried to start it a couple hours later..i have checked the timing belt and it was not broken..any help would be appreciated
