1994 Ford Contour light on panel blinks on and off

Engine Mechanical problem
1994 Ford Contour 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 137687 miles

It is the on the left side of the panel and I dont know what it means.. a yellow light = and the other night in 5th gear it just started coasting on the freeway - i had to put it in neutral turn it off and restart and it was okay - ? help

Is it the over drive light that is blinking if so I would suspect the tranny
have it scan for code
suspect internal tranny failure
