Transmission problem
1994 Chevy Caprice V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 150000 miles

Hi. I have a 1994 Chevy caprice w/150000 mi. The car will turn over but will not start. I recently put a new fuel pump on it thinking this was the problem. It was not. I got a code reader and it says code 83 torque converter clutch solenoid problem. Before the car quit running I would have to put it in low to take off and then manually shift it up another gear but it would never shift to overdrive. Is all this related to each other, and is that solenoid hard to replace and would it cause the car not to start? Do I need a new transmission? Thanks
