Engine Mechanical problem

I have a 94 Chevy Baretta, that passed e-check, and stopped on me after I registered it, the low oil pressure light came on, when it stalled, I tried to spray starter fluiid, in the carb but that did nothing. What are the things causes this type of problem, and would it be an easy fix or a costly one? Please help ! When I try to start it I smell gas, I was told it may be the fuel pump or filter. I am open for sugestions.

If you sprayed starting fluid in it and it did nothing prob not a fuel prob, I would check for spark, prob your control mod.
