Transmission problem
1994 Acura Legend 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 170,00 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
Had new engine put in at 150K miles, then at 155K, the differential was cracked and had it replaced. Now at 170K (last week) the car would stall when I stepped on the gas. Car then made a loud pop noise. My husband then tried to drive the car and could barelly go 50 yards and then made the popping noise again. I called a tow service and they took the car to a garage. Garage mechanic isn't sure, but thinks it is the differential . My husband thought this was the engine, but mechanic says it is not the trouble. If it is the differential, how much can we figure that it will cost? Can a mechanic get a good used one? Would it cut down on the cost? The differential was relaced once at 155K. We spent 2500.00 on the engine . Car has been reliable until now at the 170K mark. Body and interior look good and have been well cared for. I am torn in that I don't know if we should soak more money into this car, or, try to fix it and sell it for about $2,000.00, or take it to the wrecking yard. I want a newer care and am saving up until I have enough for a good car. Write if you have any questions. Thanks
