Engine Performance problem

a friend recently offerred to clean the throttle positioning sensor on my olds ciera. Instead of cleaning the sensor, he replaced it with one from another car. He said it was too dirty to clean. After he returned the car, the heater fan would not operate on High. When I inquired about it, he said it was the
ground and to use the next level. What did he do to the heater swithch? Why won't it operate on High and what do I do to correct it????
