check the purple wire at the starter for power, if there is power there then you have a bad starter, if no power then you need to check wires under the dash for power. the wire under the dash will be a fat yellow wire or purple wire, check for power there and let us know

Ok I will try that tonight when I get home from work. Do you think maybe it could be the ignition switch at all?

put a test light on that purple wire at the starter while your watching it have some one turn the key to the start position. if it lights up that junk autozone starter is bad, dont buy parts there, fluids and things like that yes, parts no

yes it could be the ignition switch. check for power at the yellow wire at the ignition switch. if ok there then you need to check the transmission neutral safety switch. try starting in neutral or reverse or drive and see if that helps

dont be lost you are almost there. the problem is most likely the neutral safety switch on the transmission. you are almost there dont give up, you are rounding third and heading for home. under the hood where the shifter linkage connects to the transmission you will see a electrical plug with the fat yellow wire and the fat purple wire. test for power first at the yellow wire while cranking, if no power the yellow wire is broken between the ignition switch and there. if there is power at the yellow check the purple for power, if no power at the purple then replace the neutral safety switch and it will start.
