Electrical problem

On hot days, after driving for a while, the car won't start (on it's own) until it cools down. There is only a 'click' when turning the key. No no starter sound at all. But when a jumper battery is attached it starts easely. Strange!! Help, we have tried changing batteries (twice) to a higher amp and cleaned all connections.

check and make sure all the connections are tight including the connections at the starter
