Engine Mechanical problem

I have started to get what sounds like a valve rattle at even slow speeds when the engine has a load,even a small load.

The motor is a 3.3.

This seems to happen when the engine gets warm.

It has regular oil changes and uses little if any oil,at most a quart between changes and usually not that much.

The oil pressure is good and has changed little over the years.The lowest is at idle and it seems to be fine then.

I do get a check engine light sometimes but it doesnt stay on.It has been doing that for some time,probably long before the rattle started.

I have tried higher octane gas but that hasnt seemed to helped.

What is wrong?
