Air Conditioning problem

Hello,

I have a 1993 525 BMW.

A couple of days ago, I went on my first long trip in a few months. Not long after we started driving, and the engine had heated-up, the vents all started blowing hot air, even though it was not hot outside. I tried turning the Air conditioner or fan on, but neither of the lights would turn and it continued to blow hot air.

A few months ago, I had my heating coil replaced because coolant was leaking through my vents. I haven't tried my AC or fan since then, so I was wondering if it is connected. It was a big, expensive job, so I am frustrated to be having a problem with the same area of the car in such a short time. About a week ago, the coolant started leaking under the car, and they had to replace a spring.

Any idea what could be wrong? Or if it is likely connected to the recent work I've had done?

Not knowing what exactly what was done and how it was done leaves me in a tight spot. Replacement of the heater core does not require the removal of the refrigerant from the A/C system but as you stated you are not sure and I would need to actually see the car to render an opinion. Have you spoken with the place that performed the repairs about this issue? Please repost to me and keep in touch. Dr.Hagerty
