My 89 Acura is doing the same thing. I replaced both O2 sensors, hoping it would turn off the light. No luck. Now, the check engine light is almost always on and the car revs high when idling, between 3000 and 4000 rpm's. It is drinking my gas. I thought it might be running too much fuel into the fuel injector.
Most places around here do not have the computer diagnostic equipment for a car this old.
Any ideas?
