Engine Performance problem
1992 Other Isuzu Models 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 184000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 2 part question.
I bought a used Isuzu 4X4 pickup with 165,000 miles on it. It had tape over the O2 light in the dash because they couldn't get it to go off. I read the manual & it stated that at 90.000 miles, the O2 light will come on & stay on. You have to open the dash & remove a screw from one location & install it in another. I did that & the light went out.
Now, after I passed 180,000 miles, the light is on again. I replaced the sensor but the light persists. Do I have to put the screw (a good name for it) back where I got it? Does this happen at 90,000 mile intervals or once & done?
2nd part: The engine performance is poor. I drive it so infrequently that I don't know when it lost power. It acts as though the O2 sensor IS bad. If Isuzu's programing causes the O2 light to come on even though the sensor is okay, does the computer believe the sensor is really bad? In other words, does Isuzu's programing block the input from the sensor or just turn on the light's output?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
