Engine Cooling problem
1992 Jeep YJ 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Manual 53,000 miles
Hello,
I have a 1992 YJ Jeep Wrangler (4.0L) that has 53,000 miles in it. I just got the vehicle a month ago from a friend. The vehicle was stored in AZ and I believe that they had replaced the stock thermostat “195” with a 160 degree (no heat/very low temp. comming out of the heater). So I went to the dealer and got the parts I needed. As I drained the radiator I noticed Simi clear/green crystals inside the radiator (very hard likke small rocks). What are they, and the best way to clean/remove them. Some are the size of small salt rocks? I have flushed out lots of cooling systems, but have never seen this.
Thanks
Tim |

well, my first thought is that someone has at one time or the other added a stop leak to the system. I may be wrong because there are a lot of additives today from things that make your radiator run cooler to block crack sealer and who know what else. I would just do a good flush to include the heater core and see what happens. I think that if it was a leak sealant then it worked or it would be leaking somewhere. Just run it and keep your eye on the coolant level and ill bet you are ok. Hope this helps Curt |
