1992 Ford Escort 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Well I took my starter to the store and hads it tested, It is just fine. So I am putting it back in the car. The motor does turn by hand. I will clean the connections, but if I still have he problem I will still take any advice any one might have. Just to recap- The starter would engage but sounds like it is in slow motion when trying to turn the motor, Partsdstore tested it and the starter is in great working order. Motor turns. Thanks for any advice any might have

charge battery clean and tighten terminals
check ground
remove drive belts and try
