Engine Cooling problem

I am having trouble figuring out how to remove the fan assembly on a V-8 with air conditioning. the Haynes manual does not describe this proceedure for engines with a/c. I assume it is the large threaded bolt that holds it on, but i am having a problem keeping the pump pulley imobilized to turn the large threaded bolt connecting the fan assembly to the pump.
