Transmission problem
1992 Buick Regal 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 167436 miles

I have a 1992 buick regal gs 3.8 v6 and recently i noticed that the car had been acting up when I shifted in to drive from park and from reverse etc so i checked the fluid levels and they seemed fine, also the cloring was a dark red but other than that completely normal.Well later on that week I was driving home and herad a unusual pop nothing loud but loud enough for me to hear but soft enough to not set an alarm off in my head. So i kept on driving and noticed it wasn't grabbing second gear and would high rev itself until it forced its way its way into second. I pulled over on the side of the road and notcied that there was smoke coming out of the bottom of the car and i looked under and notice my transaxle was leaking. MIddle of the night there was nothing else I could do other than drive home and look at it in the morning so I parked it at home and looked at it, I noticed that it was leaking from what Im lead to believe is the output shaft seal. I am only 17 and fairly mechanicly inclined, BUt i am confused on if it is only leaking from a seal and i put another 2 quarts of ATF into the tranny then why would it still be making a grinding noise while sitting in park? also is there anything that I can do on a low budget at home by myself or do I have to take it into a transmission specialist?
