Hi mater007,

Thank you for the donation.

Did you check if the rotor is turning when cranking the engine? A bad timing belt would not turn the distributor and this would cause a no spark condition.

As you have replaced the distributor, the next thing to check would be the ignition switch and computer.

Test for power supply to the distributor while cranking the engine. A bad ignition switch might provide power to the coil in the ON poaisiton but no power supply when in the START position.

The distributor is not pulsing to fire the ignition coil.
Possible cause would be the ignitor and/or PCM causing the problem.

Did you do the ignitor test yourself?

Is the Check engine light showing?

Did you try to retrieve for trouble codes?

i was told when the car first died that it was probably the igniter so i took it off and took it to a local shop where the tec tested for me.when i removed the igniter i disconnected the battery when i reinstalled the igniter and reconnected the battery the check engine light did not come back on and hasn't yet not even when the key is ON and not in the START position.

You would have to check why the CEL is not indicating when ignition switch is turned ON.

i followed the schematic directions as to how to check the CEL when i grounded the wire that comes from the CEL to the ECU to the frame the CEL came on.i then grounded the E1 terminal in the data link directly to the battery the CEL still did not glow..

The ECU or its witing is faulty and not grounding the circuit.

Recheck the ECU wire connectors and termnals for contaminations. If none found, you would have to get an ECU to test.
