Air Conditioning problem
1991 Dodge Shadow 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 165000 miles
About 2 months ago the AC started blowing lukewarm then hot air
Then a few weeks later started blowing only through the top vents at the windshield. Can't get other vents to work.
I got a recharge and retrofit kit thinking the refrigerant was low BUT:
1. I can't figure out which is the low pressure hose on this car (I got a eautorepair.net subscription and they don't have a diagram of this car's AC layout)
2. It looks like the the receiver/dryer canister is on the passenger side above the wheel well, but I can't see any glass window to check the refrigerant.
3. I tried pressing one of the schrader valves on the compressor and something hissed out (cold)
4. There is a plate on the face of the clutch pulley that's loose and rattles when the compressor runs.
I'm unemployed (and live in Arizona 103 today), so if I can do this repair myself it would be great. |

Hi
The low side fill port is on compressor.
As for air flow that is controled via vacuum and actuators possible vacuum line off or master select switch faulty.
Clutch could be issue down the road. Do you have gagues? do you know what pressures should be?
Low side 35psi High 200psi are you using R12 or going to try 134A?
Thanks for donate

Hi,
thanks for your response.
I'm switching to 134 refrigerant. I bought a converter kit.I can't buy the other stuff without a mechanic's license.
There are multiple schrader valves on the compressor. How do I know which one to connect to?
I have a gague that came with the conversion kit. |
