Engine Mechanical problem
1990 Subaru Loyale 4 cyl Manual 172000 miles
I have had no problems with my 1990 Subaru Loyale, which I have owned for a bout a year. This morning, in 9 degree weather, I started it up and then was a little bit of a noise under the hood which subsided after I revved the rpm's a little. I drove a mile and filled up the gas tank and drove on, after the engine warmed up a tlittle about another mile or two I turned on the heater blower for some needed warmth. The blower wouldn't blow at all which never happened before. So, I froze. I had used it earlier in the night with no problems. I kept an eye on all my gauges, while I drove, and they were at their normal lacceptable levels. 20 miles further down the road, at 60 mph, the engine shut off and I coasted to the side of the road. The car never wuouuld restart thought it tried. After sitting in the cold for 2 hours the with the hazard lights on - the battery started to lose strenght though the interior lights and gauges still lit up. I never could get the car retarted and ended up getting it towed by a good samaritan to a nearby store. Tried to give iut a battery jump but that didn't help much but did show th e gauges and lights still worked and the heater blower stared working again.
What's wrong?
Having to wait til Monday to get a 50 mile tow to a shop near my house.
Is it the engine, fuel line problem, carbutator frozen, fuse, fuel pump, alternator, what??? |
