Recharging the AC had nothing to do with the car overheating. If the cooling fan comes on and the car still overheats, chances are you have a bad thermostat or a plugged radiator. |

If the radiator is cracked, it will need replaced regardless. However, if it didn't overheat before the coolant leaked, a new radiator should take care of the problem. |

The heater core won't cause the engine to overheat.
Let me know how things go after the radiator is replaced. |

Since the fan is now wired to a switch, it may also be a good time to replace the relay. |

i have changed the radiator and the coolant. it overheats with about a half hour of driving. the transmission fluid is very dark looks a lot like oil. would that help the motor stay cool if i change that. also when it over heats the temp light dose not come on for awhile but i can here it boil in to the reserve tank before it gets to hot. thank you for your input it has helped a lot so far. |

You've done it all. The only other thing I can think if is a bad head gasket. Have you ever checked compression to make sure you don't have a weak cylender?
As far as the transmission, it won't cause the engine to overheat, but you should have it serviced. |
