Engine Mechanical problem
1989 Nissan Truck 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 198000 miles

Today while driving the truck shut off with no warning, funny sound/smell, nothing.

It is getting gas, but not getting spark.

Truck has engine cut off fuse. Does the engine cut have a reset button? Like if its in it an accident (but it never has been).

Timing belt is fine.

4 cyl has 8 spark plugs
2 coils
1 distributor

could it be the coils? distributor? Sparks were just recently changed out.

Truck IS REGULARLY maintenanced and has original parts and has always ran like a champ.

Is this a Z24 or a KA24 engine?

It is a Z24 engine.

Do you have power to the coils? If so pull the coil wires on the dist. cap both and ground each on engine and crank engine over -do you have spark on both of them.

Yes there is spark on both. One is faint, but there is spark.

My dad suggested to check the rotor next, so we pulled the rotor and it looks "worn" is what I am told.

What can we check next? Do you suggest replacing the rotor? We are in desperate need to be able to use this vehicle and can not afford to take it to a shop.

Replace both the rotor and cap thay come as a team.

Changed out both the rotor and cap.

Truck will turn over, still won't start.

Does the engine have a reset button/switch?

In order to get a timely response do I need to donate again? Because I donated when I first asked my question (which still has only been partially answered) and now I am not getting a response. I have no problem donating if my questions will be answered.
