I have a mixed year 1987-1988 Audi 90 Quattro, 5 cyl. I also have the repair manual for the Audi 5000, because it is the closest I could find for the minor repairs in my vehicle.

I know where the filter should be, I know what it looks like, but it isn't there! I have tried following the braided steel fuel lines away from the injection system but they get lost due to how compact the engine compartment is and how inaccessible parts of the car are.

Can anyone give me an exact location? I would appreciate it!
