I have a 91 Audi 100 2.3E 4 door that I just got. It has a 5 speed manual tranny, and about 200000km. My question is if the transmission is fubar if it is stuck in reverse. The guy I got it from said that he let the gear oil out of the tranny by mistake while changing a lower balljoint (which I do not see how), and then drove about 1km to get oil, but when he tried to leave it would only go in reverse. I tried to move the car, but it wont go out of reverse even when shifting to neutral. The only way for me to move it was by removing the CV axles. The right side axle hub looks like it is sticking out of the tranny a bit too far, but can not get it to go in any farther. Will replacing the gear oil fix the problem, or do I need to rebuild the tranny.
