Engine Cooling problem
2002 Audi A6 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 105000 miles

Audi A6 Avant 2.5 TDI Sport
The temperature guage when during normal motorway driving stays at 90, (12 o clock position) is this the normal running temp, the petrol version i had previous was always less than 90, and the fan kicked in at 90. Could the fan be on all the time? the car is so quiet at speed i cant tell, occasionally the temp will drop very low , creep back up and then stay at 90 for a while?

Hi NTD,

The thermostat starts opening at 87 degrees so 90 should be normal.

Fan would not work all the time, only operates at low speed when AC Compressor is engaged and high speed kicks in only when fan switch operating temp is attained.
