1999 BMW Z3 asc fault

1999 BMW Z3 140000 miles

Hi, when driving my z3 at speed for a reasonable distance the asc light comes on and it seems to drive really sluggishly without power and a little shaky. Then when you turn the engine off and then on the dials on the dashboard all fail. Once left for a day or so it returns to normal. Can you tell me whats wrong?

Possibly an anti-lock system issue. This may require a trip to a knowledgeable BMW technician.
