Noises problem

I hit a trash bag driving last night and immediately there was a putting sound that came whenever I hit the gas pedal. Is it the muffler and if so how did a trash bag trigger that? HELP!!

The trash bag could have stuck to the exhaust due to the heat and when you accelerate, it is flapping hard causing the noise.

Check if the trash bag is still stuck to the exhaust.
