1996 Audi A4 over heating

Engine Cooling problem
1996 Audi A4 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 140000 miles

The car started over heating. After you shut down the engine the cooling fan continues to spin. Is the cooling fan supposed to stop as soon as the engine stops or does it free spin for several seconds.

Hi bluejabones69,

If the engine is overheating, the fans would run for a few minutes to cool the engine after ignition is turned off.
