Tires and Wheels problem
1987 Toyota Corolla 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hi, I have recently put a new tyre on the left passager side of my car front, and I noticed when i had put the tyre on it made a clicking sound similar to that of a broken CV, but it only occurs when I turn left and does not make a sound when I turn right around a bend.... is it my CV?
Generally CV joints fail because the boots (inner/outer) are damaged by road debris (rocks/limbs).
Inspect the boots for leaking lubricant, cuts etc. If you see any it will have to be replaced.
Thanks, I had a look at the wheel etc.... yesterday and after much searching it was apparent that it was the wheel being unbalanced when it was put on the car, just wasnt lined up right when bolted back on, but it has made the knocking less noticable, but as it is rear wheel drive it does not have CV's on the front, didnt know that till yesterday (lol). I think it could be the steering rack perhaps???
