Transmission problem
1987 GMC Jimmy V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 180000 miles

ok, my torque converter is or at least i think going bad, it was making a wierd rubbing knocking sound and so i dropped the tranny including the transfer case and i want to start my engine up to see if there is still a knock. that way i can narrow my problem. i got the starter hooked back up, but im wondering if theres something on the tranny that HAS to be there for the engine to start? help me out quick i got tranny fluid all in my drive way and parts/ tools laying everywhere!!! lol i would apprieciate it.
